about

In August 2020 my dear friend and brilliant photographer Meghan Desmond proposed that we collaborate on a video project. Five months into the pandemic live performance felt like remembering a dream or another life entirely. We spent a lovely evening together in my studio filming a solo set and, upon listening back and remembering that night, it only felt appropriate to deal with it in as such.

Listening to recorded improvised music always reminds me of photography in that the recording exists as a moment ripped (sometimes violently) from its context and temporality. But with death comes the rebirth of this moment, transformed and embedded with its own memories and history that exist in a constant process of change in relation to itself and its own ever-changing temporal context.

Hope you enjoy, and I thank you deeply for your support. The full video is available at vimeo.com/480564073
